Nursery Room Leader - Dartford

Venrec are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an Experienced Room Leader to join their nursery based in Belvedere, Kent 

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • NVQ level 3 in Childcare 
  • Previous experience working as a Room Leader is preferred, however our client is interested in candidates who are looking to advance to a Room Leader role and who have previous experience taking on senior positions on an ad-hoc basis 
  • A valid Enhanced DBS or be willing to do an Enhanced DBS
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • An enthusiastic, friendly and positive personality 
  • The ability to follow nursery guidelines and procedures 

The role entails:

  • Working closely with other nursery staff to ensure that all daily routines are followed and maintained 
  • Making sure that all records relating to a child's development are accurate and up to date 
  • Ensuring that a caring, friendly and stimulating environment is maintained 
  • Overseeing the planning and implementation of activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework 
  • Ensuring that there is an appropriate ratio of staff
  • Updating and maintaining records including: accident records, first aid box, menu and dietary list, etc. 
  • Supervising and reviewing the performance of junior staff and giving advice and guidance for how they can improve/develop
  • Working closely with parents/guardians in order to promote a child's: independence, self-esteem, confidence and resilience 
  • Attending any necessary training 
  • Attending the monthly staff evening meeting 
  • Liaising with the nursery SENCO and area SENCO when the need arises
  • Highlighting any concerns relating to children in your care to the DSL. Ensuring that any concerns relating to child protection, safeguarding, etc. are communicated immediately and clearly, and that junior staff report any incidents/concerns to you

Other details:

  • The salary for this position is £23,000 (full time) 
  • The full time hours for this position are 40 hours per week (07:30-18:30 Monday to Friday)
  • Our client is also open to candidates who wish to work 35 hours per week (4 days)
